Cambodia World Family Project

Dr Robert Ogle, a dentist based in Perth who runs a year-round dental service in Cambodia treating institutionalized disadvantaged children (eg orphans and children with HIV) has been very supportive towards INSIGHT’s efforts to establish this initiative.

In the initial stages, INSIGHTs’ support and work with Cambodia World Family will most likely be through the form of funds. This will allow Dr Ogle to purchase essential dental materials and equipment for the practice.

While it is possible to assemble dental health kits locally, it is more cost effective to purchase the material and put these kits together in Cambodia itself.

Over the next few years, we hope to obtain sponsors and establish an affiliation between the University and the Cambodia Project, aiming to form a working party consisting of at least 1 staff member and several students who can travel to Cambodia and physically help to treat and manage patients.

A mobile clinic (aimed at prevention strategies rather than treatment) is still in the planning stages and may hopefully be a possibility in the future.
