History
INSIGHT was founded in 2004 by Dr Andrew Perry and Dr Stephanie Davis who were then medical students at the University of Adelaide. The main aim of the organisation was to promote awareness on some of the issues surrounding global health and to provide opportunities for medical students to get involved.
In its infancy, INSIGHT was a subcommittee of the AMSS. In its short history, it has received much support from the Medical Student Society and today, as an affiliate of the AMSS, continues to share a strong and mutually beneficial relationship. INSIGHT is also a member of the AMSA Global Health Network which provides a platform for the global health groups from the various states to share ideas and inspire one another.
Over the years, INSIGHT has grown from strength to strength and currently has a membership base of over 900 comprising members from a wide range of faculties including Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Radiography, Occupational Therapy and many more.
All of INSIGHTs’ achievements must be attributed to the many individuals who have put in countless hours of work towards projects and initiatives that they believed in and it is heartening to know that many of these individuals continue to support INSIGHT.
